Bill Ali at The Listening Room 443

On Saturday CNY Alive had the pleasure of getting to know one of its local artists a little better, instead of a typical interview we were lucky enough to see Bill Ali tell his story through music.

This first time I saw Bill Ali perform was about 6 or 7 years ago at Mac’s Bad Art Bar, Scars N Stripes seemed to always pack the house, but at The Listening Room at 443, Bill invited everyone into his family past and present.

This incredible voice sang songs that brought us all into his childhood.

Gordon Lightfoot

If you were there, I’m sure you had a tear in your eye and a smile on your face. He told us the time he took a date to Brooks & Dunn, he gave flowers to his date and then she gave them to Brooks & Dunn. He shared a story of a longtime friend that he lost and the music that they enjoyed together. He shared many stories and events from childhood to parenthood.

Neil Diamond

We see musicians on stage but never really get to know the person and what may have brought them into doing what they love, and Saturday Bill left no questions as to who he is, with his great voice he sang his life to us. Bill told his story through his favorite music. Barry Manilow, Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Gordon Lightfoot, The Beach Boys, Debbie Gibson, and Staind to name a few. This was a onetime event and I am glad we were there to see it. Thank you Bill for letting us all see where you came from and where your passion for music comes from.
