SUMMARY:Grupo Pagan
DESCRIPTION:Genre bending group\, Grupo Pagan\, has been performing together for over twenty years. Theirs is a high energy blend of Latin and rock music\, with jazz sprinkled throughout like spice in the musical stew. Edgar Pagan’s unique lead vocals create a sound that belongs only to Grupo Pagan. His vocals hypnotize and give the group their signature sound. This album was produced by 4-time GRAMMY winner\, Jimmy Haslip.“As a producer Jimmy was perfect\, as we found him to be very connected with our vibe and desire to meld world-sounds and rhythms to create and deliver fresh\, positive\, energetic\, and inspiring music\,” Edgar Pagan praised their album producer. From the very first blast of rhythm\, harmony and energy on the opening title song\, “Power\,” I became a fan of this group. No wonder they have shared world stages with Spyro Gyra\, Tela Fleck\, Wayne Newton\, The Average White Band\, Tom Scott\, Ambrosia\, Earl Slick\, Stanley Turrentine and Charo\, to list just a few. They bring the “Power” and tenaciousness of a group that is talented and original.Their infectious song with powerful lyrics\, “Human” quickly becomes one of my favorites on this spirited and exciting production. Another one of my favorites is “Tito (Remix).” It’s another Edgar Pagan original composition. Not only can he sing and compose\, he is a multi-instrumentalist who plays bass\, guitar and cajon.I was fascinated by the diversity of his compositions. A song he calls “Oye Ese Ritmo” that translates to “Hey\, that Rhythm” should get lots of airplay. This song has a laid-back groove\, whose rhythm immediately makes me want to jump up and dance. Pagan’s hypnotic voice sings\, “dark is the night\, let’s make it right\, show me the light\, loves in the air. Let the music move you. Let’s dance!”Grupo Pagán offers an album of original music that encompasses funk\, blues\, jazz\, African and Latin rhythms\, world music flavor and the unique lead vocals of composer and bassist\, Edgar Pagan. The talent of each member of this group will both captivate and entertain. They offer timely insights into today’s society\, wrapped in hum-along melodies with percussive excitement. The GRUPO PAGAN ensemble includes: Edgar Pagan\, bass/lead vocals/composer/percussion; Jimmy Haslip\, additional bass/keyboards/cuatro/percussion/background vocals/producer; Rhonda Paduano\, backing vocals/percussion; Bill DiCosimo\, keyboards; Jose Varona\, drums/backing vocals; Emedin Rivera & Joshua Dekaney\, drums/ percussion; David Donley\, Jimmy Branly\, & Luis Conte\, percussion; Este\, hand drums/chants; Jim O’Mahony\, Jeff Richman\, & Adam Fisher\, guitar; Irv Lyons Jr.\, guitars/backing vocals; Joe Driscoll\, rap/beatbox; Shane Patterson\, drums/percussion program; Daniel Pardo\, flute; Melissa Gardener\, horns; Jack Brown\, vocals.\nhttps://www.makingascene.org/grupo-pagan-featuring-edgar…/\n\nReviewed by Dee Dee McNeil\nhttps://jazzsensibilities.com/…/grupo-pagan-power-review/\n\nFrom Icrom Bigrad:\nFor over two decades\, Grupo Pagán has been moving dance floors and turning heads with their high-octane blend of Latin rhythms\, jazz fusion\, funk swagger\, and blues grit. They’ve shared stages with everyone from Spyro Gyra and Bela Fleck to Lou Gramm and Stanley Turrentine\, and that history of versatility and collaboration pulses through every bar of their latest release\, POWER! Produced by four-time GRAMMY winner Jimmy Haslip\, the album is a 10-track program of Latin groove architecture with rhythm\, harmony\, and form connecting bodies to beats and spirits to melody.\n\nThe title track\, “Power\,” wastes no time setting the agenda. Edgar Pagán’s bass lines hit with authority and bounce\, his lead vocal carried on a wave of syncopated percussion from Joshua Dekaney and Jimmy Branley\, with Este’s hand drums and chants adding ceremonial fire. Bill DiCosimo’s keyboards and Rhonda Paduano’s backing vocals sweeten the attack\, while the rhythm section locks in a pulse that feels danceable with Afro-Caribbean rhythms.\n“Milagros” romantic mood and descending harmonic figure brings introspective energy without losing motion. Pagán’s vocals are earthy and personal\, paired beautifully with Jimmy Haslip’s cuatro\, a timbre that brings an intimate\, folkloric quality to the tune. Jim O’Mahony’s guitar lines and DiCosimo’s warm keys add depth\, while Dave Donley’s percussion keeps the undercurrent alive.\n\n“Oye ese ritmo” lives up to its title\, a pure rhythmic invitation. Pagán steps out on bass\, guitar\, and cajón\, while Haslip’s keyboards shift the harmonic backdrop from earthy to urbane in texture. The track’s momentum is grounded in Latin rhythms\, jazz fusion\, and funk swagger. The way Grupo Pagán can keep people’s feet on the floor while lifting listeners out of their daily headspace is on display here.\n“Sol” offers a composition of seamless fusions of Latin groove and jazz fusion sheen. Haslip’s synth textures create a wide sonic horizon\, while Daniel Pardo’s flute lines float in melodic currents. Jose Varona’s drums and Donley’s percussion keep the earth element strong\, anchoring Pagán’s vocal in a bed of movement. The result is airy yet substantial\, providing a warm-weather track you can meditate and dance to.\n\nAcross the album\, there’s an unshakable sense of ensemble chemistry. “Peace\, Love\, and Unity” distills Grupo Pagán’s mission statement into a single cut\, the vocal interplay between Pagán and Jack Brown radiating sincerity over Haslip’s bass and keyboard work. “Give to Receive” turns Melissa Gardiner’s horns loose in the mix\, their bright punches dancing around O’Mahony’s guitar and Dekaney’s drum work. Pagán’s vocals are colored perfectly by Rhonda Paduano. The lyrics are positive and upbeat. “Camila Vida Mia” closes with a composition that fuses Latin\, groove\, and funk. Irv Lyons Jr.’s guitar and backing vocals add just the right amount of heart to Pagán’s lead.\n\nWhat makes POWER! resonate is the genre-melding fluency. Every player here serves the song first as Haslip’s production captures the core truth of Grupo Pagán. This is a band that understands groove as a conversation between cultures\, instruments\, and intentions. Whether you’re drawn to the deep percussion dialogues\, the snap of the funk backbeat\, or the way a vocalist can drift over a Timba pulse\, this record delivers something vital and joyous.\nVIDEO:\nGrupo Pagan – POWER\nhttps://youtu.be/616bBrt26AA\nGrupo Pagan – Joe Driscoll rap\nhttps://youtu.be/oAiNDVJwChs\nGrupo Pagan – HUMAN\nhttps://youtu.be/51Vz8YPR0uc\nGrupo Pagan – 443 Live Stream Capture\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppy7-0XKMXU&t=1350s\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Tom Keifer Band
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 6:00 PM \nTom Keifer remains one of the most resilient and distinctive voices in rock\, known for his raw intensity\, blues-rooted songwriting\, and unmistakable vocal power. \nKeifer first rose to prominence as the singer-songwriter\, guitarist\, and frontman of Cinderella\, whose hard rock sound and arena-ready anthems helped move over 15 million records worldwide. His signature voice\, gritty guitar work\, and no-nonsense songwriting played a defining role in shaping late ’80s and early ’90s hard rock. \nToday\, Keifer continues to evolve as a solo artist and touring force with The Tom Keifer Band\, releasing two critically acclaimed albums—The Way Life Goes and Rise. The band’s high-energy live show blends Cinderella’s chart-topping classics with standout tracks from Keifer’s solo catalog\, delivering a powerful\, modern rock performance rooted in authenticity and experience. \nKeifer’s vocals have long been celebrated for their edge and range—often described as raspy and soaring\, with Ultimate Classic Rock famously noting they “sound like the result of gargling motor oil before hitting the vocal booth.” He is widely regarded as one of the most compelling vocalists to emerge from the glam metal era. \nThe Tom Keifer Band lineup includes: \nTom Keifer\, Savannah Keifer\, Tony Higbee\, Luis Espaillat\, Jarred Pope\, Kory Myers\, and Tanya Davis. \nFans can expect a dynamic\, full-throttle rock show that honors the legacy while continuing to push forward. \nSpecial Guest: John Corabi & Friends \nJohn Corabi is an American hard rock singer and guitarist best known as the former frontman of The Scream and for his tenure as lead vocalist of Mötley Crüe from 1992–1996. Known for his powerful voice and commanding stage presence\, Corabi brings a raw\, high-energy performance that perfectly complements this night of hard rock \nTickets: \nGA Standing- $34 \nVIP Seated – $68 \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band w/s/g The Rollin' Rust
DESCRIPTION:Three time BMA nominee’s The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world”. They are led by Reverend Peyton\, who most consider to be the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy\, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale\, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford\, Robert Belfour and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Their last record Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard\, iTunes and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell. The record was critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone\, Relix\, Popmatters\, Guitar World\, American Songwriter\, No Depression\, Glide\, Wide Open Country\, Paste\, American Blues Scene and many more! \nTheir new record\, Honeysuckle was produced and recorded by Reverend Peyton and mixed by eight-time Grammy winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton\, Jack White). The record features many special guests\, including gospel music group The McCrary Sisters on the song “Manger\,” Blues Music Hall of Famer and Grammy-nominated harmonica player Billy Branch who plays on the Blind Lemon Jefferson song “Nell (Prison Cell Blues)\,” Grammy award-winning and IBMA’s 10-time Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland plays on “Freeborn Man” and Colton Crawford from The Dead South plays banjo on “The Good Die Young.” \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Scott Tournet
DESCRIPTION:Scott Tournet is a producer\, mixing engineer\, solo artist\, the frontman for Elektric Voodoo\, and a founding member of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals (2003-2015). With The Nocturnals he was a co-writer on 3 Top 40 albums and scored a gold record for the song “Paris”.\nIn addition to his work with the Nocturnals\, Scott has written and recorded with Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys)\, Willie Nelson\, T Bone Burnett\, Kenny Chesney\, Alison Krauss\, Mark Batson (Dr. Dre\, Alicia Keys\, Eminem) and others. He has performed with The Allman Brothers\, members of The Grateful Dead and Phish\, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and many others.\n\n\nScott was born in the Berkshires of Massachusetts and moved to rural Vermont at a young age. His family lived out of town on a dirt road with no electricity and no neighbors for miles. It was here that he learned to entertain himself and use creativity to his advantage. “I spent hours and hours wandering the woods and making up stories and creating a fantasy world. I also had a little monophonic casio keyboard that I would play and play until the batteries died.” He always knew music was something he was drawn to but his attempts at joining the school band just didn’t work out. “I wanted to play the drum set but instead got a little pad where I had to read waltz and polka rhythms off of a page…it just didn’t resonate or seem fun. This began my struggle with traditional musical education.”\nAfter graduating high school\, Scott attended a traditional state college with no clear focus in mind. It was here that he discovered the guitar through friends. “It seemed like all of my neighbors had an acoustic or electric guitar. One friend taught me some basic chords\, another taught me a scale or two and I was off and running. One day I couldn’t find any quarters for the laundry machines so I sat in the hallway playing 3 chords over and over begging for laundry money. I ended up with like $20. It seemed like my best option at the time.” Soon after this Scott tried majoring in music but struggled again with the traditional approach. “I wanted to study Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin…music that moved me\, but we were playing recorders and learning music from centuries ago that didn’t connect with me at all. I stopped going to class and started playing my own music 8 hours a day. I lived in a house where there was a P.A. system\, drum set\, bass guitar\, keyboards\, and my guitar. I also had a 4 track recorder. I would play everything and make little instrumental tracks. I was too shy to sing still.”\nAbout a year after dropping out and playing in college bands\, Scott transferred to Goddard College in central Vermont. Goddard is a progressive education inspired school where the student gets to direct their own curriculum. At the time Goddard had a recording studio\, a jazz program\, private lessons\, and classes focusing on songwriting and current music. After struggling through much of his scholastic career\, Scott found his inner student within this new approach to learning. “I discovered that I love learning and pushing myself. I had been pushing myself and learning by playing 8 hours a day but not everyone saw it that way. At Goddard I dove in headfirst. I was taking Jazz courses\, private lessons in guitar\, drums and songwriting\, working in the recording studio…after my courses were done I would stay in the music building until 1 in the morning practicing with bands or by myself. I was consistently playing in 3 or 4 bands. I started making big strides musically.”\nSoon after graduating from Goddard with a focus in composition and performance\, Scott moved to upstate New York in the vicinity of St. Lawrence University. He started playing bass in a hip hop band and met Matt Burr who introduced him to Grace Potter. Together\, the 3 of them formed Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. Grace was performing solo sets at little coffee shops and Burr and Tournet started accompanying her by playing quietly. Soon\, Scott and Matt started turning Grace onto music that they were inspired by like The Band\, Little Feat\, Led Zeppelin\, soul music\, funk\, blues\, and roots music. They got her to trade in her modern keyboard for a Hammond B-3 organ and started to push the music into what became the GPN sound.\nFor the next decade Grace\, Matt\, and Scott rode the wave of success. They started selling out shows regionally and soon signed with a booking agency and record label. They soon found themselves touring nationally and internationally with acts like Robert Plant\, Mavis Staples\, The Black Crowes\, The Allman Brothers\, Gov’t Mule\, and many others. They played Leno\, Letterman\, Fallon\, Conan\, Ellen\, Good Morning America\, etc. Their songs showed up on TV shows\, movies\, and commercials. They started their own festival\, Grand Point North that hosted acts like The Flaming Lips\, The War On Drugs\, Lake St. Dive\, Warren Haynes\, etc. They made records with T-Bone Burnett\, Jim Scott (Tom Petty\, Johnny Cash)\, Dan Auerbach\, Mark Batson\, Michael Brauer\, Rich Costa\, etc. They performed for and met President Obama\, Bernie Sanders\, and two governors of Vermont.\nFor Scott\, the career success had been satisfying but after a decade he began longing for new challenges. “We unfortunately agreed to open for Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw in football stadiums for a summer. It was a terrible fit and we only got to play for 30 minutes a show. Between stuff like that and only making an album every 3 years\, I started to get creatively out of shape. We were always on the road and so many days were spent in airplanes or on the set of a TV show where we would wait around all day and then play music for 5 minutes. Also\, our “appearance” began to become more important than the music. One day I woke up and realized that I was very far away from who I was when I was at Goddard. I wanted to get back to music and what made me love it so much”.\nSoon after this\, Scott made the difficult decision to leave the band he helped build and abandon financial security and career certainty for the hope of rediscovering the joy of music and creativity. He took a few much needed months off from the road in his sunny home studio in San Diego and started delving into the music he left behind when he left Goddard. Afrobeat\, experimental and psychedelic music\, latin music\, jazz\, and more started showing up in his compositions. Soon he had uncovered songs like he had never heard before. He called it World Beat Rock & Roll. Elektric Voodoo has put out three full length albums and toured nationally. Since 2023 EV has been inactive due to the fact that Scott moved his family back to the east coast.\nIn 2023\, Scott released “Rock & Roll Stories” which he wrote\, performed\, mixed and mastered all himself. The album found some success on the radio and Scott formed his band “The Spark”. Recently he has been performing with his band and by himself acoustically. He has also been producing and mixing albums for other artists. …\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n Like this:Like Loading…
