DESCRIPTION:THE LEVIN BROTHERS BANDGrowing up in in Brookline\, Massachusetts\, Pete and Tony Levin were trained in Classicalmusic but were also attracted to and influenced by the 1950's jazz recordings by bassist OscarPettiford and French horn player Julius Watkins. Both were encouraged by Brookline’s musicfaculty to pursue music careers. Pete went to Boston University SFAA and then to The JuilliardSchool in New York City\, Tony to The Eastman School of Music in Rochester\, NY. Aftergraduating\, Tony also moved to New York City. By the 1970’s. both were active in the NewYork City music scene\, doing recording sessions and playing live.Style-wise\, Tony and Pete have had divergent careers. Their musical paths have crossedmany times\, backing other artists and playing in each other's bands. In the late ‘70s theytoured together with Paul Simon. But other than a 1976 recording by their first group – “TheClams” – the Levin Brothers band was their first time developing a project of their own. Withtheir common roots\, music training and decades of recording experience\, getting their minds insync with the project was easy.Their 2014 debut album “Levin Brothers” was recorded in Catskill\, NY at Scott Petito’s NRSStudio. The music was rooted in ‘50s-era jazz. Over the years they've added a lot of eclecticmaterial to the band's repertoire\, drawing from Classical\, Pop and Prog Rock genres andadapting it to the band's jazz style. Performances now include compositions by Paul Simon\,Peter Gabriel\, King Crimson\, Ennio Morricone\, Ralph Towner\, Astor Piazzolla\, Jimi Hendrixand Jimmy Giuffre\, as well as originals by Pete\, Tony\, Jeff and Pat.Over the last 10 years the quartet has toured the U.S. and internationally\, releasing 4 morealbums. While Woodstock drummer Jeff Siegel has been with them from the beginning\, the 4 thmember has varied over the years: saxophonist Erik Lawrence\, guitarists David Spinozza andJeff Ciampa\, flautist Ali Ryerson and saxophonist Ken Gioffre. In 2024-25 they are joined byiconic saxophonist Pat Labarbera.\nTONY LEVINSince graduating from the Eastman School of music\, Tony has become the bass andChapman Stick voice for Peter Gabriel and King Crimson. In addition\, he has played onnotable recordings for John Lennon\, Pink Floyd\, Lou Reed\, Alice Cooper\, Dire Straits\, CarlySimon\, Judy Collins\, and many others. Tony has major jazz credentials\, having worked withBuddy Rich\, Steps Ahead\, L'Image\, Gary Burton\, Chuck Mangione\, and Herbie Mann. Hecurrently records and tours with Peter Gabriel\, King Crimson\, Stick Men and BEAT.PETE LEVINAs a French Horn major\, Pete earned a master’s degree from the Juilliard School. In the early‘70s he switched to keyboards\, becoming a synthesizer specialist in the New York Cityrecording studio scene. Over the years\, he has graced hundreds of jazz and pop recordingsand performances with artists including Gil Evans\, Jimmy Giuffre\, Dave Brubeck\, DavidSanborn\, Miles Davis\, Joe Louis Walker\, Freddie Hubbard\, Annie Lennox\, Charles Mingus\,Jaco Pastorius and Wayne Shorter. He has released 19 solo albums with groups of varyingsizes. He currently leads and tours with the “Gil Evans Remembered” band\, an 11-piece bandmade up of alumni of the Gil Evans Orchestra of the 1970’s.JEFF "SEIGE" SEIGELDrummer/Composer/Educator Jeff Siegel is a veteran of the New York Jazz Scene and hasworked with a virtual who's-who of jazz artists. A member of Sir Roland Hanna's Trio from\n1994-99\, Jeff has performed and recorded with jazz legends including Ron Carter\, KennyBurrell\, Jack DeJohnette\, Benny Golson\, Frank Foster\, Helen Merrill and Mose Allison. Formany years\, along with bassist Rich Syracuse\, he was a member of legendary pianist LeeShaw's recording and touring trio. He currently tours and records with a jazz quartet TheProfessors\, four members of the SUNY (State University of New York) music faculty.PAT LABARBERAAmerican-born\, Canadian jazz tenor sax player\, Pat Labarbera is best known as a long-timefeatured soloist in Buddy Rich’s band. Pat comes from a musical family\, sharing jazz historyalong with his two brothers\, John (Buddy Rich) and Joe (Bill Evans\, Tony Bennett). In 1975Pat joined Elvin Jones’ quartet\, touring internationally and recording with the legendarydrummer for over 10 years. While working with Buddy Rich\, Pat also played in groups led byWoody Herman\, Louie Bellson and Carlos Santana. Living in Toronto\, Ontario since 1974\, Patis on the faculty at Humber College. He has played a major role in the development of ageneration of Canadian saxophonists. Vintage American songs and a unique set of compositions—Cityscapes by Roger Vogel—will round out the program.\nNow celebrating its 18th year\, the Silverwood Clarinet Choir is a dynamic professional ensemble that encompasses all the voices of a true choir. This creative group performs original compositions as well as arrangements of well-known pieces in a wide range of styles from around the world—music that is both entertaining and musically engaging. Members come from Oswego\, Onondaga\, Madison\, and Cayuga Counties in Central New York.\nDr. Ronald L. Caravan has been performing and teaching in Central New York since 1980\, when he began a 35-year career as clarinet and saxophone professor at Syracuse University. He has performed frequently in solo and chamber settings\, including with the Syracuse-based Society for New Music and Civic Morning Musicals\, as well as with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and Symphoria. Dr. Caravan has also appeared as a guest artist\, clinician\, and masterclass presenter across the U.S. and internationally. In 2016\, he released a groundbreaking eight-CD series featuring advanced repertoire for both clarinet and saxophone\, published by Mark Records. His line of classical mouthpieces for clarinet and saxophone is used by advanced students and professionals worldwide.\nRobbie Padilla is an accomplished pianist whose work spans the Central New York region and beyond. His wide-ranging experience includes classical recitals and musical theatre productions\, both as a pit musician and music director. He regularly performs solo piano recitals and collaborates with vocalists and instrumentalists in recitals and competitions. On Summer Forever\, Currington’s sixth studio album\, he brings both with a collection of songs that will take the listener on a riveting musical journey and leave them breathless at the end of the ride.\nSince his self-titled debut album bowed on Mercury Records in 2003\, Currington has scored eleven career No. 1 singles\, most recently\, “Don’t Hurt Like It Used To.” His other hits that reached the No. 1 spot include such memorable songs as “Good Directions\,” “Let Me Down Easy\,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right\,” “People Are Crazy\,” “That’s How Country Boys Roll\,” “Hey Girl\,” and “We Are Tonight.” Over the years\, the self-effacing Georgia boy has amassed an impressive list of accolades. His hit duet with Shania Twain\, “Party for Two\,” earned nominations from both the CMA and ACM. “People Are Crazy” took Currington’s already hot career to another level. He earned Grammy nominations for Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song in addition to being nominate for Single and Song of the Year from the Country Music Association.\nCurrington has come a long way from his rural Georgia roots. He spent his early years on Tybee Island before his family moved inland to Rincon. He grew up listening to vinyl records by Willie Nelson\, Waylon Jennings and Kenny Rogers\, and when his mom took him to one of Rogers’ concerts\, 10-year-old Billy knew immediately he wanted to someday be the one on stage performing. However\, he wasn’t sure how he was going to get there. “To be honest\, I never even heard of Nashville till I was 17 or 18\,” he says. All that changed when Currington’s pastor recognized his talent while he was singing in church\, and decided to give the youngster some career guidance. “He had been living in Nashville at one point\,” Currington recalls. “He said\, ‘Man\, there’s a town called Nashville that you can get a record deal. Your dreams could come true. I’m going to take you there.’ So he took me and showed me the town. He introduced me to people. When I got back home\, I totally made up my mind that when I graduated high school I was going to go back.”\nAnd so he did. He made the move to Music City at 18 and began paying his dues by pouring concrete and working as a personal trainer at a gym during the day. At night\, he was getting a musical education playing in bars all over Nashville. Naturally\, he began meeting other aspiring songwriters and artists. He began writing songs and his warm\, strong voice made him one of the town’s most in demand demo singers. “I was doing 10 demos a day\,” he says. “Before you know it\, I started getting deal offers from record labels.”\nHe signed with Mercury in 2003\, and immediately garnered attention with his debut single\, “Walk a Little Straighter\,” an autobiographical song about life with his alcoholic stepfather. The song peaked at No. 8\, an auspicious debut for a newcomer. He proved the quick success was no fluke when he followed with “I Got A Feelin\,” which became his first top five hit. From there\, the hits continued as his sophomore album Doin’ Somethin’ Right spawned his first No. 1 with “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” and his second No. 1 with “Good Directions.” Released in 2008\, his third album\, Little Bit of Everything\, featured five songs co-written by Currington.
