See you there!\nCOVER CHARGE: $5STUDENTS AGE 17 & UNDER WITH ID: FREE\nYOUR MC: Daniel KringerDaniel is a classically trained operatic tenor\, music teacher\, concert organiser\, podcast host (The Skanfest Podcast)\, guitar player\, and life-lover. He grew up one town over in Skaneateles\, and later attended The Crane School of Music to earn a B.M. in Music Education. Inspired by his teachers at Crane\, Daniel proceeded to work enthusiastically for three years as a school music teacher; directing choirs and teaching music electives. He spent intervening summers working with organizations like Berkshire Opera Festival (MA)\, Berkshire Choral Festival (MA)\, and Skaneateles Festival (NY)\, and eventually was pulled back to performance full-time. From 2019-2021\, Daniel trained and earned an M.A. in Vocal Studies at The Royal Academy of Music\, London. DESCRIPTION:Meeting in the late ’80s while attending college in Plattsburgh\, New York\, the members of the neo-jam band Ominous Seapods soon found themselves at the head of a grass roots following fueled by their more than 200 live appearances each year. Just as Vermont’s Phish took their cue from the Greatful Dead’s endless touring and grass roots mailing list\, the Ominous Seapods are at the forefront of a movement of newer jam-inspired\, guitar dance bands (others include God Street Wine\, Juggling Suns and the Disco Biscuits).\nAfter dropping out of college the members of Ominous Seapods\, Max Verna (guitar\, vocals)\, Dana Monteith (guitar\, vocals)\, Tom Pirozzi (bass)\, Brian Mangini (keyboards) and Ted Marotta (drums)\, relocated to Albany and thrust themselves into the local scene by constant live appearances and the release of a live album\, Econobrain\, on Ripe & Ready Records. More live appearances followed and the group branched out playing the east coast\, southeast and\, eventually\, the west coast before releasing their first studio album\, Guide To Roadside Ecology. They followed …Roadside Ecology with Jet Smooth Ride\, produced by their friend Lo Faber from God Street Wine\, an album that furthered their sound to include folk and funk.\nIn 1995 the group reached a pinnacle of popularity with articles in Spin\, the Village Voice and the New York Times lauding the new movement of jam bands that included moe. and Rusted Root as well. By building a grass roots following through tape trading and a 10\,000+ mailing list\, the band was able to stretch their influence beyond upstate New York\, playing sold out shows in Toronto\, Chicago and Montana. Combining the offbeat humor of Frank Zappa with the guitar-driven sound of the Allman Brothers\, the Ominous Seapods have remained a cut above the countless jam bands that have sprung up in since the early ’90s. Although the melody lines and lyrics of the group’s three previous releases may show room for improvement\, their musicianship is without question and the guitar interplay between Verna and Monteith is second to none. Recently the group signed to the Megaforce subsidiary Hydrophonic and released 1998’s live offering Matinee Idols.\nSuperman Curse followed in two years later.\n\n/////\nMeet Ruha\, a vibrant collective of sonic artisans that blend diverse influences into a unique tapestry of sound. Anchored by their eclecticism and driven by a shared passion for musical innovation\, the band features five dynamic members whose chemistry creates an unforgettable listening experience.\nJessica Brown lends her soulful vocals and lyrical depth to the band\, drawing from a rich background in blues and jazz. Her voice is both powerful and nuanced\, weaving emotional storytelling into each track and anchoring Ruha’s sound with a magnetic charisma.\nBrian Lauri\, the band’s keyboardist\, infuses Ruha’s music with intricate melodic solos. With a background in rock and experimental genres\, Brian’s versatile keys work bridges genres and adds a layer of sonic exploration that pushes the boundaries of the band’s sound.\nZach Fleitz brings a distinctive flair to Ruha with his skillful bass lines. His ability to merge groove and melody adds a rich\, full-bodied layer to the band’s music\, creating a deep\, resonant foundation that complements and elevates the overall sound.\nBrian Welch holds down the rhythm section with his innovative drumming style. Known for his touch and unique percussive elements\, Brian’s beats form the heartbeat of Ruha\, providing both a solid foundation and adventurous grooves that keep listeners engaged and moving.\nCharley Orlando\, the band’s guitarist and vocalist\, infuses their tracks with atmospheric textures and harmonic richness.
