DESCRIPTION:The Brewerton Center For The Arts is proud to present “Prine Time” an evening of some of John Prines’ most influential songs. Prine was known for his signature blend of humorous lyrics about love\, life\, and current events\, often with elements of social commentary and satire\, as well as sweet songs and melancholy ballads with a career spanning over 50 years\nJohn Edward Prine was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who blended folk\, blues\, and country music. Known for his dark humor and poignant storytelling\, Prine’s songs often featured tragic characters and addressed personal and societal issues. His 1971 self-titled debut album\, featuring “Hello in There” and “Sam Stone”\, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014.\n$15 Tickets for the event presale and at the door with all proceeds for the event being donated back to the center to assist them in their goal of increasing the presence of the arts in the community.\nPRESALE TICKET LINK:https://www.zeffy.com/…/prine-time-a-tribute-concert-to…\nThank you to our friend Jim Shaffer for organizing this amazing fundraiser event and to all the local musicians involved sharing their talents and gift of music and their generous giving spirit. Creating Community.\nAbout the performers\nOn the Porch began as an acoustic trio featuring Meg Bolton\, Emilei Carney and Jim Shaffer\, who bonded over their shared love of folk\, country and American music\, including the works of Prine. They perform at numerous venues and festivals throughout Upstate NY\, and are honored to co-host this year’s fundraiser.\nBolton is a versatile singer/songwriter who plays guitar\, banjo and harmonica\, and provides vocals for the trio. Bolton resides with her family in nearby Mexico where she teaches swimming. Her multi-instrumental abilities and expressive voice are central to On The Porch’s unique sound.\nEmilei Carney brings her talents on mandolin\, ukulele and vocals\, contributing an integral part to the trio’s harmonious blend. Born in Columbus\, Georgia\, Carney currently lives in Oswego.\nShaffer is a seasoned singer/songwriter from Central New York\, whose experience spans over 25years in the local music scene. His guitar and vocals add depth and character to the group’s performances.\nThe Cool Kids consist of K. Marc Warner\, Timothy Stone and Steve Watson.. Years ago\, these three good friends from the Oswego area came together in a new project aimed at spotlighting lesser recognized rock\, folk and country material from various singer/songwriters with their own arrangements and feel.\nWarner was the longstanding Prine fan among the three friends\, having followed Prine’s tours for years\, and having actually met Prine after his performance at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee in 2006. Warner introduced several Prine songs to the group and they entered the band’s regular set lists.\nIn 2024 the group was honored with a request to be part of the first “Prime Prine” tribute and enjoyed working up a whole set of Prine material to present. They are excited to return this year with another compelling group of Prine’s songs to honor\, remember and enjoy.\n\nTim Nekritz is an Oswego-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who plays covers ranging from the early 20th century to contemporary hits and many originals. Nekritz plays slide guitar/dobro and sings both solo and in various combos\, including the duo Whiskey Spirits and as bassist/vocalist for The Condescenders.\nHe established The Variety Show\, a monthly-ish event inviting guest performers to showcase their songs\, and hosted various open mics.
