Guest Artist / Main Presenter Mike Manley
Mike Manley’s musical credentials are both broad and numerous. For starters, he is a very talented singer/songwriter/guitarist, the founder of the bands “The Measure” and “Off The Ground” and the 2020 Syracuse Area Music Award winner in the Americana category.
He has also been writing songs since the age of thirteen in various genres, now concentrating primarily in the blues genre. In addition, Mike has recently been selected to perform in the NYS Blues Festival taking place this June.
As the main presenter for our May 4th meeting, Mike will demonstrate the performance techniques he uses in both his original songs and a number of cover tunes to add musical color and diversity to his solo performances.

Rookies and Rusties Session – led by Jim Flynn.
By popular request, we will be having a free-form jam session, playing a variety of popular tunes using only 3 chords each. Our approach will be based on an impromptu or pick up jam format. No song sheets, lots of fret hand finger reading, just lots of fun and spontaneity. Jim Flynn sent a list of the songs we will potentially be playing and the 3 chords used for each in an

One additional editorial note in regard to Guitar League. Guitar League is an organization where guitar players and aspiring guitar players meet monthly to share their common love of the guitar and guitar playing in a welcoming, judgement-free environment. Guitar players, aspiring guitar players and non- guitar players are welcome. Many people attend just to enjoy the consistently fine performances provided by the GL members who play the opening sets and by the professional musicians that serve as main presenters. The organization is a place where guitar players can share their guitar playing tips and learn from others in the group.
