Songwriters Showcase at The Yard
Sunday,May 4, at 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Songwriters Showcase at The Yard in Manlius is a new every Sunday afternoon event. It runs from 1:00 to 3:00. The Yard is a unique place to play with artisan shops, a brewery and cafe. This is an outdoor venue, but the stage and some seating is covered in what was the foundation of an old barn. The ORIGINALS ONLY showcase takes place during a classic car show and shipping container yard sale that runs from noon to 4:00, so there’s opportunity to run longer than 3:00. I’ll be hosting this every week and I’m excited to share the spotlight with anyone who’s interested. It’s a cool place to play and a great opportunity to be heard. If you’re interested please message me, Bob Raymonda and we can discuss details and workout a date.
Kicking off the showcase on May 4th are local singer songwriters Mira Grimm and Rocky Feola.
Mira Grimm is a 17 year old professional musician, multi-instrumentalist, and singer/songwriter. They play a wide range of blues, Americana, and finger style guitar. Mira’s songwriting has been described as “prolific” and compared to artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney. Mira writes about their mental health struggles, their goal is to help people relate to something, and show everyone that they’re not alone. Music runs in their family. With their dad being the drummer for the international blues band “Savoy Brown” they have had a strong connection with music their whole life. Mira started singing and playing instruments when they were just 7 years old. You can see mira performing solo or with their new band “Mira Grimm and The Reapers”
Rocky Feola only joined the Central New York music scene within the last year. While he never intended on becoming a live performer, some chance opportunities have led to him playing several times a month, all over Upstate New York, with all of his music proceeds going to various charities selected each month by a different fan or supporter.
While his musical influences vary and span a full spectrum of genres, Rocky’s songs often center around lost love, heartbreak, and betrayal, and are often described as heartfelt and relatable. He often mentions drawing influence from artists like Jack Johnson, the Beatles, the Grateful Dead, and Chris Stapleton, though he admits there are many more. As a self-taught guitarist who considers himself much more of a lyricist than a guitar player, his simple chord progressions and unique playing style provide a perfect backdrop for the stories his songs tell. Rocky credits most of his success to the family, friends, and fans who support him.
Since becoming more comfortable performing personal songs for an audience, Rocky is now most frequently seen at the Maplewood Bar & Grill in Liverpool, NY and in downtown Oneida, NY, at The Blind Squirrel Pub, where he hosts a weekly Open Mic each Thursday night since May 2024.
