Country Stars at The Tin Rooster

We had the opportunity to see two fantastic Country performers at The Tin Rooster, Exit 33, Turning Stone Casino last week. Steven Cali opened for Ty Bates, and both put on a great show and had having fun doing it. Mikayla Kemp did a write up about Steven earlier this year and he hasn’t slowed down since. Steven came from a 3 hour performance earlier that day, jumped on stage and gave us a world class performance. His signature raspy style voice and hard playing acoustic guitar could be heard across the Casino, makes you wonder how long until Nashville takes him away from his home town of Cato, NY.

Steven is a self-taught Guitarist and has love for old style Country. I love his version of “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks. Steven also has a band called Cali County Line. Steven’s next date is September 28, 6-9pm at Shaughnessy’s in Syracuse, and he is looking to get his first EP out in the Spring of 2018. Don’t miss him.

We also had a chance to talk with Award Winning Ty Bates. As soon as we started talking I knew I was talking to a Georgia boy. Ty is down to earth and very sincere about music and meeting his fans. While in the hospital from a childhood accident Ty started singing to pass the time and it took off from there. Ty moved to Nashville and was working miscellaneous jobs to keep food on the table and a place to live, when the right person heard his demo and he got the call from RCA Records, as he said it to his boss at the time “Look man, RCA called, I gotta quit.” Now how can you argue that?

Besides a busy schedule of performing Ty is working on a CD for the past year called “On A Good Day”. We caught him playing the title track that night. You can pre-order all 12 tracks. (http://hyperurl.co/OnAGoodDay) and it will be released October 6th.
As soon as Ty Bates’ started playing all the bachelorette parties in the Tin Rooster, got on the floor dancing. For the rest of the night all the chairs and stools were empty and the dance floor was full. If you weren’t dancing you were tapping feet. They played songs from Johnny Cash to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ty Bates is an Authentic Country Star. He told me “When we play, we pay tribute to old Classic Country you haven’t heard in a while. If we’re having a good time on stage our fans will too.” Ty is headed back to Nashville and hopefully we’ll see him head back up north soon.

I personally would like to thank Steven Cali and Ty Bates for taking time to sit and talk to CNY Alive, it was an absolute pleasure.
