Indigo Hawk Songwriters Series Round 1!

Billy Harrison took the grand prize of $100 and four hours at Sub Cat Recording Studio.

Irv Lyons Jr. and Kimberly Rossi, Indigo Hawk, hosted a series of songwriter open mics at Pasta’s on the Green. Songwriters were encouraged to showcase their original music on Mondays. Each week an artist was awarded a monetary prize and chosen to move on to the finals. Eighteen performers played their original song at the finals to a panel of judges including Dave Frisina, The Rebel 105.9 DJ, Irv Lyons Jr. and Chris Eves on April 9.

Billy Harrison took the grand prize of $100 and four hours at Sub Cat Recording Studio. Andy Myers, Mike McKay and Mark Wahl also placed along with a special prize by the venue to Janani Bae, young YouTube songwriter. Billy has been touring solo as Liam Alone and is a member of Atkin’s Riot, The Jess Novak Band, Tanksley and All Poets and Heroes. It’s an ever evolving list! He teaches music lessons at his studio Music In the Air and plays with his talented students as well. Billy is also part of the Salt City Creatives group. There’s nothing this guy can’t do. He’s a multi-instrumentalist and crazy talented. He played his little guitar named Henry and sang his catchy song “Cross my Heart.” Nadine Prince contributed back up vocals from the sideline and he got the crowd singing along. Those of us who know him were not surprised at all by his win. Even in a room full of raw talent his natural ability and personality shone bright.
