Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, Live and Listening

Jeffrey carves his words into music like a fine craftsman builds elegant, one of a kind, piece of furniture.

Doing a bit of research on Jeffrey, I found that he is so much more than just a musician. He is the founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine, contributor to NPR’s All Things Considered, a published author, a Guitar Teacher and accomplished musician, he has awards from The John Lennon Song writing Contest and a SAMMY Award for Best Americana, this can all be heard in his latest CD, Live and Listen.

Live and Listen is easy to listen to and not overplayed. The songs invite you in to join the band and tap along with the music. Some of the songs bring me back to the 70’s, sounding like Peter Paul and Mary, while other have a touch of Johnny Cash. After all, isn’t that really Americana, a mix of many genres molded into beautiful music.

My favorite is Googling, well done representing a common part of most everybody’s day.

Live and Listening is a worthwhile CD to own. It is a superb presentation of quality musicianship and technical recording. A great collection of poetic story telling songs.
