Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalists Jess Novak and Ben Wayne will release Rise in October 2019. The four-song EP features tunes recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with the help of producer Bill Warner and songwriter Kirsti Manna, best known for her work with Blake Shelton.
Novak was contacted by Manna who expressed an interest in her songwriting early in 2018. Months later, Novak recorded three of her own songs with an incredible team at Omni Sound Studios in downtown Nashville. The disc features Jeff King (Reba McEntire) on guitar, Mark Hill (Keith Urban) on bass, Steve Brewster on drums and Tim McDonald on keys. Later, Manna and Warner were so impressed with the songwriting and voice of Wayne, he joined the group in Nashville and his song “Carousel” was added to the CD.
The result is powerful as the duo and couple combine forces to bring songs they wrote for one another to life. While they swap lead and backing vocals, fiddle and guitar, the message is received – these songs aren’t written for someone removed from the situation, they’re singing right across the mic.
“This type of real-life “A Star is Born”songwriting is so special,” Novak says. “There are so many moving songs, but to know people are actually writing and singing to and for one another and that it’s real – you can feel it.”
That paired with the unstoppable talent of the band and these four songs pack a punch that marks a huge leap forward for the duo.
A formal CD release party will be announced momentarily.
