Who knew a theatre could feel like a reunion, a hillbilly reunion that is. Once a again the Theatre Du Jour put their heart and soul into the performance and the potato salad in the gumbo. The director, Jennifer Snow, put together a great group of performers for the Hilarious Hillbilly Massacre show, at the start of cocktail hour we all felt at home, flannel and all.
Dinner started with gumbo and ended with fried chicken. A perfect hillbilly meal with great flavor and hillbilly personality.
The family style seating for dinner really brings everyone together and you can really get to know other guests (and kin in this case).
When dinner ended we all ventured upstairs to the Birchbumble reunion hall. The cast brought the entire room into their world with their hillbilly ways. The twist begins when the IRS shows up and as always is “welcome”guest at the reunion. With the help of the FBI and an extremely active audience the murder always gets solved.
Like any good trip sometimes the journey is just as important as the destination.
Tammy Wilkins and staff always puts together an interactive show that beckons all to participate. Audience members who have never met have now become friends and all go home with a feeling of satisfaction knowing that they solved a murder together.
If you’ve never been to an interactive theatre we highly recommend any show presented by Theatre Du Jour. Whether your passive or interactive these shows are entertaining, relaxing and intimate. Those that thought they would be passive found themselves unable to resist joining in the show.
Never miss an opportunity to catch the talent of all involved with Theatre du Jour.
A special thank you to Tammy for inviting CNY Alive out to see this fantastic show.
