Dead to the Core: An Acoustic Celebration of the Grateful Dead
Dead to the Core is a collective of singer-songwriters and acoustic musicians, led by musician/author Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, that celebrates the music of the Grateful Dead—not through note-for-note re-creations but by playing the songs their own way, letting them grow and evolve collaboratively in the true spirit of the Dead.
This show an all-star Syracuse-based band. Joining Rodgers (guitar, Strumstick) are Tim Burns of Two Hour Delay (guitar, mandolin), Wendy Sassafras Ramsay (flute, clarinet, accordion), Josh Dekaney (percussion kit), and John Dancks (upright bass).
Interspersed with the music are clips from Rodgers’ own interviews with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, in which they reflect on the roots and evolution of the music.
A Dead to the Core show is an experience unlike any other Grateful Dead tribute: a night of deeply personal performances that illuminate the masterful song craft of one of America’s most original bands. Grateful Dead music right down to the core.
Saturday

Sunday
Homeward Bound Harmonies presents their 6th edition, celebrating the lost art of 2-3-4 and even 5 part vocal harmonies in pop music.
Representing legendary acts including The Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Byrds, CSN, America, Eagles, Three Dog Night, Simon & Garfunkel, Poco and The Beatles. Plus, a special tribute segment for the recently departed master songwriter (and unofficial member of Eagles), JD Souther.
As performed by the BeatleCuse All-Stars…a collective of CNY’s finest pro-level players & vocalists. Including Chris Ames, Tim Burns, Paul Davie, Shawn Halloran, Mark Barnes, Dennis Veator, Julia Scranton, Mark Tanner. Kevin Dean, Dan Morisson, Ed Gorham, Skip Murphy and Kevin McNamara.
For this show, the vocal arrangements are the main event…therefore, all instruments will be acoustic, plus no loud drum kit to endure!
Terry Sylvester hails from Liverpool UK – the Birthplace of The Beatles. In fact, his teenage band The Escorts opened for them several times, including their final show at The Cavern Club. Soon after, he joined The Swinging Blue Jeans who were enjoying a big hit in the UK and US with Hippy Hippy Shake in 1964.In December 1969, Terry was recruited to join The Hollies, and contributed to harmonious hits right out of the gate with “Sorry Suzanne”, and the international #1 smash, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”. Soon thereafter, he sang and played on more chart toppers, including “The Air That I Breathe”, and the rock standard “Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress”, which is still being used in TV ads and movie soundtracks to this day! In 2010, Terry was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Hollies, and is the only other Lad From Liverpool UK to receive this honor.
