Growing up, Neil was brought up in a culture of blues. His earliest inspirations were artists such as Ronnie Earl, Sean Costello, Robben Ford, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton, as well as local artists such as The Kingsnakes, Los Blancos, Built for Comfort, Phil Petroff, and Jose Alvarez. Later on, more contemporary artists started to influence Neil as well. While he still remains in the roots of the blues genre, he tried to implement a more modern approach and sound.
