May is full of events! Make sure you stay up to date with the cnyalive.com calendar. Downtown festivals are back. Outdoor patios are opening. Spring is finally really here. Here are a few updates you “may” be interested in.

The Palace Theatre wall has been fixed. Congratulations to the Skinners on construction completion.

Rock Voices is a non-auditioned, adult choir that sings only rock music from the 60s through present day. This includes the songs we grew up with, like The Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Earth Wind & Fire, and James Taylor. Our mission statement is “healing ourselves and others through song.” Anyone can enjoy singing with us, regardless of previous experience or perceived vocal talent. As a community choir, we also use our collective voices to raise money and awareness for charitable non-profit organizations in our community. Founder Tony Lechner is a longtime music educator in the Massachusetts Pioneer Valley. The Syracuse group will be directed by Nina Pelligra, who is a musician and recording artist herself and directed many vocal groups pre-pandemic. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm at May Memorial Unitarian on E. Genesee St, starting May 18. For details on how to enroll, visit RockVoices.com.

Stop in to Stay Fresh gallery at The Delavan Center for an art opening by Michael Schwarzer and Karin Bruckner Thursday, May 12 6-10PM. “May 12th we welcome Michael Schwarzer and Karin Bruckner into the gallery for their show “Off the Wall 2”. This event is sponsored by the one and only @buriedacornbrewing!
Barrel Aged Mixed Fermentation and Farmhouse pros, Syracuse’s own Buried Acorn serves up some of the tastiest wild ales around. We couldn’t be more stoked that they are sponsoring the show.”
