Friday

Tonight’s the night  to glam up and celebrate the local music scene. The Syracuse Area Music Awards Show is at The Palace Theatre. Tickets are available and there is a live stream option for those hosting watch parties.

THE SAMMYS

Date: March 8th, 2024 @ 7pm (Doors open at 6pm)

The Syracuse Area Music Awards Show is our annual celebration of the Syracuse music scene. Much credit should be given to Frank Malfitano, who now runs the Syracuse Jazz Fest, for founding the Sammys in 1993. Each year, hundreds of local musicians and valuable members of the Syracuse music community attend the show to cheer on their friends. Since the first Sammys was held at the Landmark Theater in 1993, the Sammys Award Show has become the number one local music event in the Central New York area.

Saturday

Little Queen performs at The Maplewood at 7pm. We’re back and ready to rock with you! Come and show your support for Frank and Patty in their effort and love of keeping live music at Maplewood. It’s been way too quiet there since Jan 1 when they were forced to stop the music. Let’s prove to the powers that be that music DOES matter and it is the glue to what brings people together. – “Let the Music Play!” A $5 cover charge is nothing to lose compared to what is lost when music is silenced!

Sunday

On Sunday, March 10, the F.I.R.E. (females inspire, rock, empower) Festival will take place at Center for the Arts of Homer, 72 S. Main St., Homer, NY. The event runs from 2-6 p.m. and will feature a wide variety of female artists, musicians, and business owners.

Now celebrating its first time in Homer, but its third time occurring, the idea of F.I.R.E. is to promote women in music, art, and business by filling venues with female creators. While many festivals boast all-male lineups with cover-centric headliners, F.I.R.E. will feature women playing original music and a huge span of vendors and artists. Visual artists, dancers, creators, business owners and musicians will span genres and ages, providing a wide variety of talent.

The event is intentionally planned for a Sunday afternoon so children are welcome to attend. It’s also taking place in March as part of an on-going celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day!

Musicians will include Amanda Rogers, Ashley Cox, Jess Novak, Caitlin Barry, Sarah Blujus, Peg Newell and more! Collaborations among musicians and dance groups will bring stunning surprises.

Vendors and artists will include Slit Weave, Anna With Intention, Michelle Darin, Artisan Elements Collective, Clay Design By K, SoulCrafting, Pam’s Crafty Corner, Margot Elizabeth, Azure Eyes  Photography, Golden Age Reiki, Wildebeest Publishing and more.

“When I was young, I didn’t see women playing instruments and running businesses,” Novak says. “I want to provide a place where young girls can see women doing and creating whatever they want so they know they can too.”

Celebrate Women’s History Month with this festival featuring female vendors, musicians and artists.

The F.I.R.E. Festival is proud to work with ONCO Fermentations, official beer sponsor of the event.
The Festival also welcomes support from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Apizza Regionale and Funk n’ Waffles.
