Michael John Heagerty had an idea: organize something fun, family-friendly, and art-related…. make it a weekly event….on a mid-week day (to make it easier on performers with weekend gigs)…and set it at an under-utilized/forgotten public space in Syracuse. Voilá! “Overpass Fest” came to life in the summer of 2016.
From the “Overpass Fest Returns” Season One saw us along the Creekwalk in Franklin Square. Season Two….the Inner Harbor. Season Three…a new location that acts as a mini-Highline…” That location is on the former OnTrack platform near Wildflowers Armory (Wildflowers Armory, 225 W Jefferson St, Syracuse, NY 13202.)
Anyone is welcome to join in on the music and arts fun….or just come to watch (and dance!) The season opener, on May 31st, was a treat with warm breezes, clear skies, and a dozen or so musicians. Documentation can be found on Facebook:
Come join us Thursday, June 7th! The location is a little tricky to find, but once you found it, you will never forget. My advice is to park near Wildflowers Armory, then walk across the parking lot, up a staircase, onto the platform, and listen for the music!
