Perilous brings the Rock n Roll with debut EP

You know me by now, I am always looking for that sound. That special sound that got me into music in the first place. The three chords, loud, fast and with hooks for days.
Call it what you want, punk rock, power pop..it doesn’t matter. If it was good enough for The Ramones, it’s good enough for you. It’s the sound that to this day gives me goosebumps, gets my feet moving, my blood flowing and no matter what the music writing pundits will tell you, the sound that will never die. I need it like I need air to breathe. I need loud fast rock n roll.

I’ve found that sound in spades in the debut EP from Perilous. Perilous are a kind of punk rock all-star band from all over NY State. Vocalist Pauline hails from Buffalo and is a veteran of the local rock n roll scene there, most notably the beloved Pauline & The Perils. New York City’s Bob Cat is a member of SFB, 1.4.5., and other bands too numerous to count, he’s a kind of “have guitar, will travel” kind of rock n roll gunslinger and keeper of the punk rock flame, the kind of guy we need these days. Paul, from Syracuse, is a member of The Trend, one of the Salt City’s greatest punk rock bands whose debut single “Band-Aid” is a sought-after collectable worldwide. On bass is Renee, herself a veteran of the Cortland/Ithaca rock n roll scene.

Right from the jump Perilous hits you with “Rock N Roll Kiss” a song which you should know by now, it’s been played frequently on Sirius XM’s Underground Garage and almost more impressive is it’s been featured on legendary taste making DJ Rodney Bingenheimer’s show multiple times now. The song explodes from your speakers with ringing guitar and hand claps and launches right into Pauline’s full of attitude vocals. The song rolls on like a freight train. The perfect late night summer car song as all good rock n roil should aspire to be.

“Always Dreamed Of” is EXACTLY what I’m talking about. An anthem of love to rock n roll and hot nights and killer beats, if you’ve ever waded through the leather jacketed smokers to hand the doorman your ten dollars and headed straight for the stage, you feel this song already.

“Energy” is a great piece of pop rock n roll that would make a great sing along from the pit on a sweaty Saturday night and I think I hear Bobby on those backing vocals.

What Perilous bring is the kind of rocking vibe that we have been missing around here, the high energy and sing along songs, The kind of rock n roll that sounds best in a leather jacket, or torn jeans and go-go boots. If you miss Kim Shattuck, you will love Perilous. If you miss nights in sticky floor rock clubs, you will love Perilous. If you miss sexy but tough girl vocal, you will love Perilous. If you miss rock n roll, you will love Perilous.

I strongly suggest you grab the EP and remember what you’ve been missing. I am chomping at the bit to see this band stage-side soon.

The debut EP from Perilous can be found on Bandcamp.
