Review: The Heist Bar
Location: 114 Oneida St. Fulton, NY 13069
I was able to visit The Heist Bar in Fulton to watch a live performance by the band Infinity. The circular structure has recently been transformed from what was previously a bank to a now appealing martini bar complete with the former vault once used for banking, a semi-circle full scale bar featuring “the loot,” a wide variety of drink selections, a seating area, two pool tables, a dart board, a jukebox, an ATM, and a fully functioning stage for live performances. Arriving just 10 minutes after the start of the band, the building was completely packed! Guests were asked at the door for a small cover charge costing $3 per person from 5-8p.m. and $5 per person after 8p.m. and received a hand stamp after payment. There are two entrances at opposite sides of the building for customers to enter or step outside for fresh air throughout the night. With one restroom upstairs and one restroom downstairs, there was never a long wait and both appeared to be clean and presentable throughout the night. Despite the large crowd, once you made your way to the bar the service was quick and efficient. The drink prices were comparable to other establishments in the area which I would consider very reasonable. I asked the bartender for a mixed drink that is not commonly heard of and he took my order and quickly returned with exactly what I had asked of him. The bar does not serve food at this time and did not accept credit cards, but an on-site ATM diverted any issue. Parking is not directly outside the building, but due to a commons area in the same location there is ample parking in lots nearby within short walking distance. This particular night, as similar when big live performances are scheduled, The Heist partners with a shuttle bus service to transport patrons from the neighboring city of Oswego with a bus ride costing $5 per person. Overall, the music was loud and energetic, the service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was non-stop fun from start to finish!
