Liz Nowak, original Syracuse Area Music Awards board member and current SAMMYS Director, has announced she will step down from the Director position at the close of the 2026 SAMMY Hall of Fame & Awards Show on March 5 & 6, 2026.
Liz began volunteering her time when the SAMMYS were in its original planning stages in 1991. She was part of the inaugural launch of the 1st SAMMYS Awards Show in 1993. She has kept the SAMMYS going for over 3 Decades. In 2023, Frank Malfitano, Founder of the Syracuse Area Music Awards, awarded Liz Nowak the SAMMYS “Founder’s Award” for her continuous service & dedication to the SAMMYS FOR 3 decades.
There is a search for candidates to apply to be the new SAMMYS Director. The Syracuse Area Music Awards Director is a volunteer position that includes planning and producing the annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Awards Show.
