SOUTHERN ROCK LEGENDS MOLLY HATCHET TO PERFORM VETERAN BENEFIT IN SYRACUSE

When you think of Molly Hatchet, you think of one of southern rock’s top and longest-lasting bands, responsible for kick ass anthems and weapon-wielding warrior album cover art. But the group also has a heart of gold, as evidenced by the announcement that they will be headlining a show on August 5th in Liverpool, New York (at Sharkey’s Summer Stage) that will benefit Victory for Vets.

Established in 2014, Victory for Vets, Inc. is a collaborative community effort led by IBN Financial. Their mission is to raise awareness and funding through exciting community events with top level acts in order to help our service men and women get the support they need to reintegrate back into our community.

Formed in 1975 in Jacksonville, Florida, Molly Hatchet came up in the same local scene as the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd (in fact, Molly Hatchet recorded their first demos in Skynyrd’s studio…and using their equipment!). Beginning with their self-titled debut in 1978, Molly Hatchet is responsible for such timeless rockers as “Flirtin’ with Disaster,” “Whiskey Man,” and “Gator Country,” among many others. Currently, the band’s line-up is comprised of Dave Hlubek – lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals; John Galvin – keyboards; Bobby Ingram – rhythm and lead guitar; Phil McCormack – lead vocals; and Tim Lindsey – bass; Shawn Beamer – drums.

The event’s principal event sponsors include Grimsley Agency, IBN Financial, Sharkey’s, and iHeart / B 104.7, and doors are 3pm for the benefit performance at Sharkey’s (with Molly Hatchet hitting the stage at 8pm – including a “meet and greet” with the band prior to the performance for the VIP Meet & Great ticket holders). There will be a veteran’s motorcycle ride ending at Sharkey’s for the start of this event (including a veteran’s color guard presentation), food and beverage will be made available outside the event, and five bands in total will perform (line-up listed below).

Tickets are $20.00 GA advance sale / $25.00 DOS, VIP meet & greet/preferred seated (limited) is $75.00, and preferred seated (limited) is $45.00, and can be purchased at either Phantomtix.com , Sharkey’s, Sound Garden in Armory Square, or through Victory for Vets.

There will also be a golf tournament earlier that day, with all proceeds benefiting the Victory for Vets organization. It will take place at the Liverpool Golf & Country Club the same day (Saturday, August 5), with a “shotgun start” time of 9am, and cost being 4-person teams at $75 per person, which includes, golf, cart, and lunch (entry also includes a $25 general admission ticket to the concert later that night).

Additionally, there is a motorcycle ride associated with the event, which will start at the Pepsi parking lot and end at this Victory for Vets / Sharkey’s event. There will be a fee of $20.00 per person of whom are on the motorcycles. The ride will be timed out, so that the bikes arrive at 3:00 PM at Sharkey’s, park, and then the opening ceremony begins.

If you live in the Upstate New York area, August 5th will undoubtedly be a date to mark down on your calendar, as it will provide a full day’s worth of rock n’ roll and good times – all for a great cause!
