Back and Better Than Ever: Everson To Reopen August 1

SYRACUSE, NY (July 6, 2020) The Everson Museum of Art is reopening its doors on Saturday, August 1
to members and Sunday, August 2 to the general public. Days and hours of operation will be Thursday
12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday – Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 5 p.m. The Everson will also have designated
hours for members and high-risk/health compromised visitors only on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m.
– 12 p.m.
In addition to extending all 2020 memberships by three months, the Everson is waiving all admission fees
for the entire month of August and offering Pay-What-You-Wish admission.
To ensure the health and safety of both visitors and staff, the following protocols will be put into place
upon reopening: 1) all staff and visitors will be required to wear a mask while inside the museum; 2) all
visitors must maintain the standard 6 feet of social distance unless they are part of the same group; 3)
hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the building; 4) strict limits will be placed on the
number of people in the elevator; 5) the building will be cleaned and disinfected daily, and many areas will
be disinfected multiple times a day; 6) all staff members and volunteers will be screened via temperature
check and questionnaires before entering the building for the workday.

are expected to open in the Fall of 2020.
The Everson will continue all of its virtual programming including its weekly Object Study Class with Garth
Johnson, the Everson’s Paul Phillips and Sharon Sullivan Curator of Ceramics. Newly added virtual
activities include free Salsa Class with La Familia De La Salsa on Thursday, July 23, free Trivia Night on
Thursday, July 30, and Pottery & Pour class on Thursday, August 27 ($40 members/$50 non-members).
Virtual Live Yoga With HeART will continue through the summer on Saturdays at 10 a.m. You can
register for these and other activities at everson.org.
Also being offered this summer are Everson Creativity Kits for children ages 4–12. These take-home kits
have been specially designed by Museum Educators to encourage young artists to create original works
of art inspired by the Everson Museum and its collections. Lessons encourage children to explore a
variety of art media including drawing, painting, and sculpture. They are available to order now at
everson.org.
The Everson’s premier youth engagement program, the Teen Arts Council, will still take place this fall in a
virtual format.
