(AUBURN, NY – Jan. 6, 2020)— Tony, Pete, Jeff “Siege” Siegel, & guitarist Jeff Ciampa are coming to Auburn Public Theater this Friday Jan. 10 at 8pm on their Winter 2019/20 Snowtire Tour. The Mack Quartet is opening the show, with special guest Chico Freeman. Tickets are on sale at auburnpublictheater.org and at the box office (315 – 253 – 6669) for $20 advance, $25 door, and $10 student rush.
Jazz legends The Levin Brothers Band continue their winter tour with a stop in Auburn, joined by special guest guitarist Jeff Ciampa. The band is on tour after being on hiatus this past summer and fall while Tony Levin was on tour with King Crimson. This will be the band’s first show in Auburn, they kicked off their 2020 tour at iconic NYC jazz club, the Iridium on January 2.
Jeff Ciampa is a veteran NYC studio musician, with credits that include Ornette Coleman, Dave Matthews, Harry Belafonte, & Bill Evans. Tony Levin is best known as the bassist for King Crimson, but he has major jazz credits that include Buddy Rich & Chuck Mangione. Keyboardist Pete Levin has graced hundreds of jazz recordings & performances, including Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Charles Mingus & more. The brothers are joined by their long-time collaborative partner Jeff Siegel on drums.
Saxophonist Chico Freeman is back as a very special guest opening this concert, after headlining an incredible season opening jazz concert this past September at Auburn Public Theater. Freeman honed his craft in Chicago clubs with blues artists like Memphis Slim and Lucky Carmichael, and on tour with pop and R & B greats The Temptations, Michael Jackson, The Eurythmics & more. In New York and abroad he has performed with such innovators as Elvin Jones, Sun Ra, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Wynton Marsalis, Earth, Wind & Fire, Tito Puente and many more. He will be joined at APT by pianist Dino Losito, drummer Harvey Sorgen, and bassist Peter Mack.
