THE MOVEMENT AND NATTY MEDS TAKE OVER STERLING STAGE

Friday July 5th found the reggae chart-topping group The Movement in the pines at Sterling Stage playing before a raucous crowd of 300 devotees. The Movement, currently with the #1 reggae album in the country, came out firing with Loud Enough segueing into Mexico. Front man Joshua Swain kept the vibes going with Movement classics such as Golden, Fair Warning, and Habit. But, the new album, Ways of the World, was well represented too with songs like Honey, Redwoodz, Breaking the Glass, and Orange Sky given full representation on the set list. Bassist Jason Schmidt laid down the baseline and drummer Gary Dread kept the beat that moved the feet. Finishing out the band is musician extraordinaire and Upstate New York native, Matt Goodwin on keyboards, trumpet, and guitar. The setting, the songs and the company made for a memorable evening.
Opening for The Movement was Oswego’s own Natural Medicine (Natty Meds) who got the crowd moving with their own brand of roots reggae. A full hour and a half set showcased the full-range of this local reggae/roots/rap band. Looking forward to the next time Natty Meds plays upstate.
