The Oswego Player’s Second production of their 80th anniversary season, David Javerbaum’s comedy “An Act of God” features a trio of experienced actors.“An Act of God” ” is a satiric view of what it might be like if God came back to earth to amend the mistakes he made with the original ten comandments accompanied by two of his Archangels Micheal and Gabriel.
The Oswego Players production of the play features Matt Fleming as God, with Patrick Carmen and Tammy Wilkinson as Micheal and Gabriel”.
Matt Fleming, as God, is getting into his role right away, by describing his experience in Biblical terms. “In the beginning, there were musicals, and Matt saw that they were good. Next came opera and he thought, eh, but then over time they grew on him until lo, they became a passion. After that came a nephew born to, well not to virgins, but lovely people nonetheless and that drew him to the garden of Oswego where hark, there was a community of beautiful, like-minded people in the Oswego Players and Theatre du Jour who allowed him to come and be silly in various straight theater productions as they brought entertainment and art to the people and he felt happy and amused and yes- even blessed.”
Patrick Carmen playing the role of the Archangel Michael is no stranger to the area theater community He has appeared in over a dozen shows with several theater companies including, Oswego Players, Theatre Du Jour, Baldwinsville Theatre Guild, CNY Arts, CNY Playhouse and the Salt City Players. Favorite roles include; Juror 10 in “12 Angry Men”, Judge Gaffney in “Harvey” General Glossop in “Jekyll and Hyde” and the Rabbi in “Fiddler on The Roof”. Patrick would like to thank all who have supported him in his quest to be a full participant within the theater community, most especially his family. Patrick would also like to take a moment to dedicate this performance to his beloved guardian angel, Olga. “
