The Oswego Players latest production the holiday classic Jean Shepard’s “A Christmas Story” opens Friday December 1st for a two weekend run.

“A Christmas Story” tells the familiar tale of Ralphie and his quest for a Red Ryder BB gun and his family's yuletide adventures, growing up in 1940 Gary Indiana.

“A Christmas Story” tells the familiar tale of Ralphie and his quest for a Red Ryder BB gun and his family’s yuletide adventures, growing up in 1940 Gary Indiana.
The Oswego Player’s version of the show features a large cast of area children and adults including most particularly the main protagonist, Ralphie’s family, the Parkers. The Parkers are played by a mix of veteran and rookie actors, including Eli Belawski as Ralphie, Apollo Avery as Randy, along with Tammy Wilkinson and Micheal Bolio as Mother and the Old Man.
Eli Belawski, playing Ralphie Parker, is 11 years old and the oldest of four brothers. This is Eli’s first theater experience and is totally different than his typical athletic endeavors. He loves watching and playing sports, making people laugh, learning new things, and is currently in the Ukulele Club at school. Eli is very excited to be a part of such a fun production.
Apollo Zeke Avery, playing Randy, is also appearing on stage for the first time. However, Apollo recently played the role of young Billy Barlow, Oswego’s Mayor, in the Oswego City Police Departments Lipsync Challege, directed and produced by Kyle Ridlen Productions and StepOne Creative. Apollo is the son of Atom and Falecia Avery and the brother to Aubrey and Azalia Avery. He currently attends Trinity Catholic School as a kindergarten student. Apollo enjoys, gymnastics, boxing, playing guitar, acting, singing and spending time with family and friends.
Tammy Wilkinson, playing the part of Mother, is no stranger to the stage! She has appeared with many amazing theater companies as an actor, as well as producer! You may have seen her recently as Gabriel in “An Act of God” at the Oswego Players. Some of her favorite roles include Marcellus, in “Hamlet”, The Storyteller in “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” with The Redhouse Art Center… Sally Cato in”Mame” and Billy Dawn, in “Born Yesterday”, she is directing “Life on Campus” – an original orientation piece – at schools across the country for CHW Productions out of Atlanta and casting fine jewelry for LeRoi Fine Jewelry. Tammy has a background in TV and radio, loves nature, health & wellness and spending quality time with her amazing fiance, Terry!
Playing the role of The Old Man is Michael A. Bolio. A long time theater veteran, Michael is honored to check off one of his bucket list roles by appearing in “A Christmas Story”. He has been seen in many roles. including Prez in “The Pajama Game”, Rochester” in “Jane Eyre”, Fagin in “Oliver”, and most recently as David Kahn in “Social Security”. Michael currently serves as Worship Leader at Hannibal Community Church. He would like to thank his wife Ginger, their 7 children and 8 grandchildren for their unending love and support.
“A Christmas Story” was adapted for the stage by Jean Shepard, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark. The show will be directed by Norman Berlin III. The show is presented by specail arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.
“A Christmas Story” will be presented on December 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 8th at 8 p.m.and December 9th. at 2 p.m. at the Frances Marion Brown Theater at Fort Ontario Park in Oswego.
