(Auburn, NY – Feb. 11, 2020) – Auburn Public Theater is presenting two major bands with global followings, in very different genres, two days apart on their Main Stage.
First is Gaelic Storm on Wednesday Feb. 19, performing in a sold out show. Gaelic Storm is a multi-national Celtic band that has toured the world for nearly two-decades and over 3,000 shows. They have seven #1 Billboard World Music Chart Albums and over 250 million streams on all platforms.
They are coming to Auburn, NY for the first time on the heels of their latest release Matching Sweaters. The new album mixes traditional Irish music with modern influences, and is inspired by everything from old Irish newspapers to overheard conversations in pubs. Their dedicated, loyal fan base, known as “Storm Chasers,” are lovers of musical genres as diverse as Gaelic Storm’s influences: celtic music, bluegrass, rock, country and everything in between. Gaelic Storm first catapulted to the top of the World Music charts after being featured in the blockbuster hit movie Titanic.
Two days later, the legendary British prog rock band NEKTAR is hitting the Main Stage. NEKTAR is touring the world in 2020, with shows in the USA in January, February and March. Their new album ‘The Other Side’ was just released in January 2020. Following the passing of original guitarist / vocalist Roye Albrighton in 2016, three founding members Derek “Mo” Moore (bass, vocals), Ron Howden (drums, vocals) & Mick Brockett (lyrics, visuals) reunited in 2018 to begin work on the new album, along with two former members and one new band member (Ryche Chlanda, Randy Dembo, & Kendall Scott). says: “’The Other Side’ is a stunning album from a legendary band.”
A British rock band originally formed in 1969 in Hamburg, Germany, NEKTAR’s combination of Music and Light Theater was like nothing that had ever been seen before at that time. After critical acclaim and a few gold records, they moved to the USA. In the late 1970s, the group disbanded, but in 2002 they reunited and have been recording and touring the world in different forms ever since.

These two concerts are presented in partnership with DSP Shows. DSP Shows (founded in 2008), based in Ithaca, is quickly becoming one of the leading independent concert promoters in America.
