SUMMARY:Guitar League
DESCRIPTION:Guitar League is an organization where guitar players of all ability levels share their love of guitar playing and their various guitar playing tips\, tricks and techniques with one another in a family friendly\, judgement-free environment for the enjoyment and mutual benefit of all in attendance. Here is what we have planned for this month’s meeting.\nVenue Doors Open: 6:00pmOpening Act: Felicity Peters – 6:30pmMain Presenter: Tom Rasely – 7-00pmBreakout Sessions: 8:00 – 9:00pm (See Details Below)\nMain Presenter: Tom RaselyWith over 60 years of guitar playing to his credit\, Tom Rasely has had a long career as a finger-style nylon string guitar player\, composer\, a very active private guitar teacher and performer. He has toured extensively performing at wide range of venues including once at Carrier Dome and twice at the White House. Tom has been nominated for a Sammy Award (Syracuse Area Music Award) on three separate occasions\, and his album “Nylon” won a Sammy Award for him in 2023. Rest assured his main presentation at this month’s meeting with be both enjoyable and informative.\nBreakout Sessions:Guitar players attending the meeting can choose one of the three breakout sessions being offered this month\, based on their own ability and interest levels.\nTo derive the most benefit from any of these breakout sessions\, please bring your acoustic guitar with you to the meeting. No one is ever pressured to play\, but most long-time Guitar League members will tell you they are glad they brought their guitar with them to their first meeting\, as they felt very comfortable playing in the judgement-free group sessions.\nSong Circle:Bob Raymonda will lead the song circle this month. Bring an original song or a cover tune you are working on to play for the circle. If you would like others to accompany you\, please bring copies to share with the group.\nRookies and Rusties:Learning to sing and play guitar at the same time is an acquired skill in and of itself. Jim Flynn will be leading this group through the following 6 songs: Horse With No Name\, Guitar Man\, Singing the Blues\, What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor\, Black Velvet Band and Over In Killarney. An ambitious undertaking\, but all are songs with basic chords and (as usual) fast paced and fun. Jim emailed this month’s song sheets last week. If you didn’treceive them\, let Bob Lewis know by emailing him at bobflewis94@gmail.com\nFinger Picking for Rookies and Rusties:A great introduction to popular finger picking styles for those looking for another skill in addition to playing with a pick or strumming with your thumb. Jeff Stanton sent out this month’s songs last week. If you didn’t receive them\, let Bob Lewis know by emailing him at bobflewis94@gmail.com\nFor additional information on Guitar League feel free to browse the GL website at www.guitarleague.com\nOn behalf of all of us in the Syracuse Chapter of Guitar League\, we look forward to seeing you at the meeting!\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related
