Wildflowers – Infinite Possibilities in Armory Square

Wildflowers is a new tenant in Armory Square located at 225 Jefferson Street behind the MOST. It is a multi vendor marketplace making sure Syracuse, NY is filled with opportunities for creatives to blossom. I asked Michael John Heagerty about the name. He said some of the creatives got together to chat about a long term space after the success of the Infinite Pop pop up shops. “There’s an infinite number of wildflowers and they pop up in spaces that are forgotten and it makes them more recognizable and beautiful,” he explained. It is a clean, industrial space perfect for showcasing art and products. It certainly has something for everyone from jewelry, soaps, and clothing to a wide array of artwork.

Shop/Gallery/Events & Workshops

There are three spaces under one roof. The collective is open to ideas for events and hosting workshops. It is available for rent. The gallery is in the middle, flanked by shop space. Vendors will rotate every 3 months to keep the pop up feel. The idea is to transform the space consistently. Artist Jamie Santos is the lead curator for the gallery. The first art event Yo’ Mama is ready for Mother’s Day. Stop in between noon-6PM Sunday to check it all out. Your mom will love this place and you can let her pick out a unique gift in the shop.

Michael Gaut, owner of The Painting Poet, stopped in for a tour. He said, “When we travel we always look for the local places. This is one of those kind of places where if we weren’t from Syracuse and came here we’d have a better impression of Syracuse than we would have if we didn’t come in.“

The gallery provides an intimate space for art showings, live music or workshops. The patio and adjoining rooftop space offer even more options for events. The Wildflowers crew will be partnering with local businesses and artists for cool happenings.  Wildflowers will present various events: book signings, themes, music, tastings, listening parties, movies, poetry nights, food trucks, etc! The possibilities are infinite.

Wildflowers and Glazed & Confused are currently co hosting a wildflowers themed donut flavor competition.

Creatives bring your ideas to the collective!

Wildflowers is run by a collective of artisans from Infinite Pop. There is a core group consisting of a seven person board. Heagerty is the President, Sarah Seib, creator of Cuppa Candles, is the lead administrator, Jamie Santos is the lead art curator and other artists serve various positions. “We are very pleased to have this space and Washington Street partners are excited about what could be. It is a multifaceted opportunity.” Heagerty said. Many hypothetical events have been discussed and the group is working diligently with new city administration to make things happen. Bring your ideas to the group of artists for input. It’s all about networking, connecting people and getting creatives opportunities to grow.
