A Week At The Ridge

The Ridge (1281 Salt Springs Road Chittenango, NY 13037) recently featured two of the most talented artists and groups in the Syracuse area. A Wednesday night treated us to solo artist Ryan Burdick. Ryan’s soothing style combines well-known songs from performers as diverse as Bob Seger, Tom Petty, and Jim Croce to modern-day troubadours such as Jason Isbell and The Wood Brothers. Ryan’s voice has the range and quality worthy of a national act. It’s impossible to be in the same room as he performs and not be drawn to the music. Ryan also performs with the award-winning band “Ruddy Well.”

The following Friday featured another award-winning Americana group: “The Easy Ramblers.” Dann Mather (upright bass); Scott Ebner (guitar and accordian); Mark Allnatt (banjo); Ed Zacholl (guitar); and Maureen Henesey (vocals) entertained an appreciative crowd with a mix originals (“The Well” and “When the Water’s High”) and covers by Gillian Welch (“Wayside”) and Bob Dylan (“Country Pie”) Maureen’s pure and powerful voice soars through the intricate music and lands in your heart. She is truly an amazing singer! Check out “The Mere Mortals” for another good dose of her diverse talents.

The indoor setting of The Ridge is one of the coziest and relaxing places in the Central New York area. A large fireplace glows with candles until the weather turns cold enough to stoke an actual fire. Tables for two, four, or eight are covered with black chalkboard paint. A small dish of colorful chalk is available for your artistic endeavors! The bar is a slab of wood, bark still attached! A diverse bar selection, especially the Bourbons, will please even the most pickiest cocktail connoisseur. Their tavern menu, as well as their fancier dinner selections, are absolutely fabulous! This writer can’t get enough of the red white and blue salad, and the black and blue burger from Greyrock farms.

Interested in coming out to the tavern? Be sure to check out the open hours for The Ridge. They are not open every day, and will close for the month of January in order to prepare for the upcoming spring and summer events featuring their new amphitheater area. Current dinner hours are from 4 to 10 PM, Wednesday through Saturday. Music on Friday nights will go till 11 PM!
